Gualda’s Night Cut Short at Placerville Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA- Though his feature event ended just about as soon as it started on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, Tony Gualda is already looking forward to bettering his result this week during the Mark Forni Classic.

“Unfortunately there was some contact between myself and another car at the start of the race and it collected a few cars and it tore our stuff up enough to end our night,” Tony Gualda said. “I hate it for everyone involved, and I hate that we tore up a lot of equipment for the second week in a row. Cody and Mandi give me a great opportunity and I really hate this for them.”

Timing the C&M Motorsports entry in third fastest in qualifying time trials, the Hollister, CA driver had a nice run in his heat race as he worked from fourth to second aboard the Moorefield Construction, Inc./Hollister Auto Parts/PitStopUSA machine.

Earning a spot in the redraw, the two pill put Gualda on the front row for the 25-lap finale as he still chases after his elusive first career win in a winged 360 sprint car.

As the field came through turns three and four to take the green flag, Gualda and fellow front row started Jimmy Trulli would come together and make contact and it would result in an accordion effect that saw Gualda endure significant contact and ultimately bring his night to an abrupt end.

“Coming to the green I was trying to get a good start because we were really fast and we came together and then everything happened,” Gualda said. “Now all we can do is rebuild, repair, and get ready for a big race this Saturday night. Thank you to all of our partners who continue to support us, as well as to Cody, Mandi, and this entire team for all they do.”

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Moorefield Construction, Inc., Hollister Auto Parts, PitStopUSA, PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, Alturas Tires, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.

ON TAP: Gualda and C&M Motorsports are right back to work on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway.
