PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting back to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night, Tony Gualda was able to put a tough trip to Hanford, CA last week behind him as the Hollister, CA recorded his second consecutive runner-up finish at the ¼ mile bullring.

“It was great to get back to Placerville Speedway and build off of the speed we have had up there lately,” Tony Gualda said. “Momentum has been on our side up there, and I am looking forward to Saturday’s SCCT show up there.”

With 17 cars checked in amidst the grueling heat that blanketed the area on Saturday night, Gualda got off to his own hot start as he timed the Moorefield Construction, Inc./Hollister Auto Parts/PitStopUSA backed No. 7c machine in third fastest in qualifying time trials.

The fresh high school graduate would line the potent C&M Motorsports machine up in the second row of the first heat race of Saturday night where his third place finish would get in in the redraw.

Pulling the five pill, Gualda would line the PT Shocks/Swartz Diesel/Alturas Tires machine up in the third row to start the 25-lap feature event as he continues to chase after his first feature event win.

At the waiving of the green flag, Gualda would settle into the fourth spot as he chased after Justin Sanders, Ryan Bernal, and Andy Forsberg who battled just ahead of him.

Continuing to lock down a spot well inside the Top-Five, Gualda would come alive during the latter stages of the feature event. Putting pressure on Bernal and Forsberg, a late yellow would bunch the field back up. Able to get by bother veteran drivers, Gualda would jump into second as he chased after the leader.

Turning in some fast laps in the closing laps, Gualda would be unable to get close enough to pose a serious threat as he came home with another second place finish on this night.

“We are getting closer and closer to that win every night it seems like’ Gualda added. “Cody and his guys works extremely hard all week on this car, and I really am thankful for all they do. We have a big week of racing coming up, and I couldn’t be more excited for it.”

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Moorefield Construction, Inc., Hollister Auto Parts, PitStopUSA, PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, Alturas Tires, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.

ON TAP: Gualda and C&M Motorsports are geared up for a return to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night at Petaluma Speedway on Sunday night for what will be two Sprint Car Challenge Tour events.
