(PETERSEN MEDIA)- Those times when the reality of racing being a dangerous sport simply can’t be described than anything else besides numbing. When one of your own goes down the world seems to stop and your heart seems to skip a beat.

Saturday night in Louisiana, Marcus Thomas was involved in a mild heat race flip that turned ugly and left Thomas severely injured in his racecar. Air lifted Louisiana State University in Shreveport, LA, Thomas underwent surgery that went extremely well repairing a broken C6 Vertebrae, and got him back home in Texas where he now has a long road of recovery in front of him.

In just his fourth year behind the wheel of a full sized sprint car, the 28-year-old from Texas who has dreams of racing fulltime spends his weeks running his own Wildlife Taxidermy business.

Finding success in Texas, as well as with GWR in California, Thomas was hot winning two races in a row. While racing is  passion of his and everyone that surrounds him the focus is now on getting Thomas back to 100% and help him down the road to recovery.

In just a few short days the racing community as stepped up in big ways with both emotional and financial support including CSI Shocks donating a percentage of their sales to Thomas.

Another unique way to support Thomas is to take part in the raffle for the GWR House Car that Thomas recently won in at Bakersfield Speedway. The car will come as a roller as well as with some other goodies. For those looking to get involved with the raffle, or to help in another way please reach out to GWR owner, Tim Williams at 916-910-5064.

GWR would like to thank Speedway Motors, CS9, System1, F&J Schott Trucking, Hoosier, Simpson, ButlerBuilt, Capitol Renegade, David Williams Welding, Petersen Media, Fagundes Auto Body, Blanchard Dozing, and Willwood Brakes for their support.

2018 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-9, Wins-1, Top 5’s-2, Top 10’s-4
