PETERSEN MEDIA- Showing perseverance on Saturday night in Tulare, CA, Cory Eliason and the Antaya Motorsports team worked hard through the night and came away with a sixth place finish with the King of the West series on Saturday night in Tulare, CA.

“I have to thank my guys and crews from other teams for all of their hard work on Saturday night,” Cory Eliason said. “We had issues in the Dash, and tried a couple of things the remedy the situation before we thrashed and changed engines just prior to the feature.”

Going out last for time trials on Saturday night, Eliason would still lay down a nice lap aboard the Good Guys Rod and Custom Association/Fuel Curve/Fire Protection Management, Inc. backed No. 20 machine as he would time in second fastest.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Eliason would run into trouble early as he would get collected with a spinning car and be forced to the tail end of the field. Needing to get back up into the third spot to qualify for the Dash, the Kingsburg, CA pilot had his elbows up and make a late race pass to end up third at the finish line.

Moving into the Dash, Eliason would battle with Kyle Hirst for the early lead before losing power and retiring from the event with a sixth place finish.

Working hard in the pit area thrashing to make repairs for the feature event with the help of other teams, Eliason and company would make the call, as they would take the green flag from the sixth starting position.

Getting five laps in before rubber would begin to go down on the speedway, Eliason would hold down the sixth spot. As rubber began to lay down on the speedway, the field would get into single file formation as no passing would occur for the rest of the race.

Trying to make up some ground outside of the rubber as the field raced through traffic, Eliason was unable to make a move around DJ Netto as he ended up taking the checkered flag in the sixth spot.

“It was disappointing to have rubber go down so early in the feature for the second week in-a-row,” Eliason said. “Our team worked extremely hard to get out their for the feature event and we were hoping to put on a show but it got single file early and we just got in line and went. Again, I really want to thank my guys for sticking with me and working hard, and hopefully we can put on a show for the fans this weekend in Petaluma, CA.”

Antaya Motorsports would like to thank Good Guys Rod and Custom Association, Fuel Curve, Fire Protection Management, Inc., TW Performance, Kaeding Performance, Cardinal Paint and Powder, Tool World, Maas Brothers Powder Coating, and Shiro’s Collision Center for their support in 2017.
