(Petersen Media): Saturday night at the Placerville Speedway, Sean Becker would battle a brake issue during the feature event and would eventually jump the cushion late while leading the $10,000-to-win feature event.

“It was heartbreaking,” Becker said. “This team has had such a tough year, and breaks continue to not go our way.”

Heading to the Placerville Speedway fresh off of two consecutive feature event wins, Becker was back aboard the Menne Motorsports No. 75 machine for the 10th Annual Mark Forni Classic.

Timing the Mike’s Hard Lemonade/Ponybracket.com/Menne Ranch Hay Inc. No. 75 machine in 12th fastest, ‘The Shark’ would capitalize on a front row starting position in his heat race as he picked up the win and earned a spot in the night’s all-important Dash.

Pulling the two-pill, Becker would line up on the front row for the six lap race as he hooked up in a battle with Cory Eliason for the Dash lead. Unable to get by Eliason, Becker’s second place finish was still good enough to put him on the front row for the 30-lap feature event.

Though the track was extremely fast on this night, Becker showed he had a strong machine as he banged the cushion lap after lap racing side-by-side with Cory Eliason as they dueled up front for the lead.

Experiencing brake issues, Becker was able to use his veteran savvy, and continue to run up front and challenge for the race lead. In traffic, Becker as able to find an opening as he raced his way into the race lead on the 15th lap.

Up front, Becker looked to be in control of the race as he fended off challenges from Kyle Hirst and Carson Macedo. Lap 20 proved to be devastating for Becker as his he would get up over the cushion in turns one and two giving up the race lead, and falling back to the fourth spot.

Unable to work his way forward, Becker would remain in the Top-Five as he finished with a fourth place finish.

“We were all hoping that Saturday night would be the turning point for us, and it looked like it was going to be,” Becker added. “We had a good car, and running the cushion as hard as I could finally bit me. Under the circumstances, I was surprised with how well I was able to run and was pleased to come a way with a top-five and am very thankful for everyone involved with this team.”

Becker would like to thank Mike’s Hard Lemonade, Cherry Street Mini Storage, Menne Ranch Hay Inc., Astro Titanium, Ponybracket.com, Hunt’s Race World, Molecule, Shaver Racing Engines, FK Rod Ends, and K&N for their support in 2015.
