PETERSEN MEDIA: Returning to action on Saturday night, Blaine Craft and Moxie Motorsports returned to Marysville Raceway looking to build off Craft’s Top-10 from two weeks prior. Unfortunately, a heat race tumble ultimately did Craft in as the team was able to make repairs prior to the feature event, but something was still amiss as Craft did all he could in the feature.
“It was a bit of a learning night,” Blaine Craft said. “Unfortunately I got into some trouble in the heat race and took a pretty good tumble. We were able to get it put back together for the feature, but it wasn’t quite right and I did what I could until ultimately pulling off before the race ended.”
With 21 cars on hand at Marysville Raceway on Saturday night, Craft timed the Moxie Mechanical/Kuzinich Custom Homes/All Phase Plumbing backed No. 97 in 14th fastest in qualifications.
Lining up in the third row of his heat race, Craft had a misstep on lap two that saw him lose the handle and collect another car in the process which resulted in a flat left rear tire.
Going to the work area, the Moxie Motorsports team was able to make the change and get Craft back on track where he tagged the rear of the field. From the back, Craft tried to push a little too hard to get going again and as he got into the fluff in turns one and two and he made hard contact with the wall which sent him into a series of flips.
With a beaten and battered car, the team went to work back in the pit area to get Craft ready for the feature event.
Getting all they could done when it was time to stage, Craft made the call for the feature event. It was apparent the car was still hurt from the wreck, but Craft did what he could to get more laps under his belt. As things worsened as laps clicked off, he ultimately made the decision to pull off the racing surface early and call it a night.
“I was extremely lucky and thankful to have my Uncle Guy Morrison in the pits on Saturday night helping us out,” Craft added. “He brings a ton of experience to us, and it surely helped to have him around on a rough night. I am getting more comfortable to push myself in the car, now I just need to clean some things up.”
Craft would like to thank Moxie Mechanical, Kuzinich Custom Homes, and All Phase Plumbing for their support in 2024.
