PETERSEN MEDIA: After making the announcement last week that they would team up for 2015, Dakota Hendrickson and his new Van Dyke Motorsports team were in action over the weekend with the Lucas Oil ASCS Series during their season finale, and Hendrickson was pleased with how things went.

“It was a great weekend,” Hendrickson said. “Our first weekend together we were at a pretty tough show, and for me personally, it was the first Lucas Oil ASCS National feature I have ever started.”

Kicking things off at the Cocopah Speedway in Yuma, AZ on Friday night, the Omaha, Nebraska driver picked up a second place finish in heat race action aboard the Lucas Oil/K&N Products/JRI Shocks backed No. 5h machine, locking him into the feature event.

Gridding the field from the seventh row on the slick Cocopah Speedway surface, Hendrickson got bumped from behind very early in the feature event, causing him to spin his machine out, and tag the field from the rear.

Lining up in the 26th spot, Hendrickson was able to gain a few positions as he adapted to his new machine, as he worked his way back up to the 22nd spot at the finish line.

Back in action on Saturday night, Hendrickson finished in the fifth spot of his heat race, putting his NAAKE Suspension/FSR Radiators machine in the evening’s B Main event.

Lining up in the fourth row of his B Main event, Hendrickson looked to get into the top three to transfer into the feature event, but on this night it was not in the cards.

Doing all he could to gain positions, Hendrickson would finish in the seventh spot, ending his 2014 season, and his debut weekend with Van Dyke Motorsports.

“We were a little bummed to not make the feature event on Saturday night, but overall it was a good weekend for us,” Hendrickson said. “It was nice to work with Harley and his team, and I am already looking forward to January.”

The Van Dyke Motorsports team would like to thank Lucas Oil,  K&N Products, JRI Shocks, NAAKE Suspension, FSR Radiators, for their support during the year.

ON TAP: The Van Dyke Motorsports team has concluded it’s 2014 season but will kick off 2015 in January back at the Cocopah Speedway.
