Henry Charges to Second with McColloch Motorsports

PETERSEN MEDIA: One week removed from winning the Mark Forni Classic, Kalib Henry returned to the seat of the McColloch Motorsports No. 17 machine at Placerville Speedway and flirted with another feature event win only to come up just short and settle for a second-place finish.

“Saturday night was a really good night for us at Placerville Speedway,” Henry said. “I feel like it was the best we have been all around up there, which is exciting with some big races still to come.”

Going out early in the time trail session, Henry would time the McColloch’s RV Repair/Express Sewer and Drain/Davis Truck Painting backed No. 17 mount in sixth fastest.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, the Mather, CA driver would need to pick up the win to earn a spot in the redraw. Able to get to second, Henry would be unable to get one more position as his second-place finish put him ninth on the starting grid for the 25-lap feature event.

On a very slick Placerville Speedway surface that had built up a thick curb on both ends of the track, Henry was able to get off to a great start and make some quick moves.

Able to jump into second on a lap 10 restart, Henry would give chase to race leader, Andy Forsberg, though would have some company in Shane Hopkins. Slipping back to fourth over the course of the race, Henry would get back to third as he now chased after Hopkins who had taken over the second position.

Racing through traffic in the closing laps, Henry would make a move on the last lap to net the McColloch Motorsports a second-place finish at the stripe.

“We had a really good package in the feature, and it really let me move around and make some moves,” Henry said. “We got into second, and then fell back, but we had a good enough car to rebound. Thanks to the McColloch family and all the great partners that make this possible.”

McColloch Motorsports would like to thank McColloch’s RV Repair, Express Sewer and Drain, Davis Truck Painting, Driven Homes, Inc., ART Speed Equipment, RE Technologies, Hansen Machine, ADCO Driveline, and Gary Morgan Graphics for their continued support.
