PETERSEN MEDIA: Getting back to work after a couple of weeks off, Kyle Hirst and the Tiner Hirst Enterprise team had a great night in Tulare, CA that culminated with the No. 94 machine landing on the podium during the Peter Murphy Classic opener.
“It was another great night for the THE car,” Kyle Hirst said. “It was unfortunate that the track took rubber, but we put ourselves in a great spot, and got back up on the podium.”
With 40 cars in the house, Hirst timed the THE/Larry Davis Farms/GP Development backed No. 94 machine in fourth quickest in his time trial group, which would enough to put him on the front row of his heat race.
On a slick Thunderbowl Raceway surface, the Paradise, CA driver had his elbows up as he jumped up into the lead, and raced his way to the win, which was pivotal as it locked him into the High Sierra Industries Dash.
Starting and finishing fifth in the Dash, Hirst would jump into fourth when the 30-lap feature event finally went green after a couple of red flags prolonged the start of the race.
With the track taking rubber early on, Hirst would chase after third running DJ Netto as the only way around would be a mistake with the surface being in the condition that it was in.
In traffic, Hirst would capitalize as he cleared Netto and began chasing after the lead duo of Rico Abreu and Dominic Scelzi.
Able to close in traffic, there was simply no way to get around as both guys did a great job of hitting their marks and keeping their tires in the rubber. When the checkered flag flew, Hirst crossed under in the third position and locked himself into the Peter Murphy Classic finale.
“We locked into Saturday’s feature, but unfortunately rain washed the night of racing out, and I am not certain if we will be back for the make up show,” Hirst noted. “Fun night of racing, and fun to race alongside our THE development car with Ben Worth. It has been a fun way to race this year, and I thank everyone that has made it possible.”
Steven Tiner Racing team would like to thank Tiner Hirst Enterprise, Larry Davis Farms, GP Development, Wright Process Systems, Fisher Racing Engines, SRP, Wilwood, XYZ Machine, DMI, HRP, Sway Away, Kevin Sharrah Designs, Prior Engineering, System One Pro Ignition, Sweet Manufacturing, Sway Away, Schoenfeld, Warehouse Paint, and Roseville Precision for their continued support.
