PETERSEN MEDIA- After getting off to a rough start during time trials at the Petaluma Speedway, Kyle Hirst would dig himself out of an early hole as he finished sixth with the King of the West Series.

“I just messed qualifying up, and it put us behind the rest of the night,” Kyle Hirst said. “We had a really good car, but I just made a couple of costly mistakes. Fortunately we were able to race pretty good and we got out of there with a sixth place finish.”

Aboard the Tarlton Motorsports No. 21x machine on Saturday night, Kyle Hirst would just miss out on the heat race inversion as he would time the Roth Motorsports/Elite Landscape Construction/Tarlton and Son, Inc. backed entry in 13th fastest.

From the third row of his heat race, the Paradise, CA resident would pick up a few spots, as he would work his way forward to finish in the fourth spot of his heat race. Unable to get into a Dash spot, the current series point leader would grid the field from the 13th starting position.

On a track that would seal over and make passing tough, Hirst was able to use patience to work his way forward. Finding himself in the Top-10 just past the halfway point, Hirst would take advantage of a lap 17 restart.

Able to pick up what felt like a position a lap, Hirst would work his way up to the sixth spot when the Ed Entz checkered flag was displayed the field.

“I felt really good in the feature event, I just wish we started a littler further forward,” Hirst added. “This Tarlton Motorsports team works very hard for me, so hopefully we can get back into victory lane in a couple of weeks.”

Kyle Hirst and the Tarlton Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Motorsports, Elite Landscape Construction, Tarlton and Son, Inc., Executive Auto Sales, Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino, Pabco Gypsum, Bandy and Associates, All Star Performance, Corporate America Investments, and BG Lubricants for their support through the 2016 season.

ON TAP: Hirst and company will return to action when the King of the West Series ventures to the Placerville Speedway on September 24th.
