Hirst Opens Keller Auto Speedway Double Header Weekend In Victory Lane

(Hanford, CA)- Friday night at the Keller Auto Speedway, Kyle Hirst kicked off a big winged sprint car double header weekend by scoring the win with the Duinkerken Farms King of Kings 360 race, as Cody Laney took top honors with the McAlister’s Auto IMCA Mods, and Gary Dutton won with the RaceChic IMCA Sport Mods.
Michael Faccinto and Craig Stidham would lead the field to green and Kyle Hirst would make it a three-car battle for the top spot as Faccinto led the early goings.
While Faccinto continued to set the pace, Kyle Hirst would overtake Stidham for second on the fourth lap, before getting around Faccinto on lap five to take command of the race, on the fast Keller Auto Speedway surface.
While Faccinto would fall of the pace and out of the race, Tommy Tarlton would assume the third spot, though he would have company in the name of Jonathan Allard and Cory Eliason. As Hirst continued to lead the way, Eliason would work his way by Tarlton and Allard to grab the third spot, as he set his sights on Stidham.
Out in front, it was all smooth sailing as he was able to work traffic brilliantly and race his way to the win, as Stidham would finish second, Eliason third, Colby Copeland would charge from ninth to fourth, while Tarlton rounded out the Top-Five.
The McAlister’s Auto IMCA Modified race would feature a battle between Brad Pounds and Cody Laney.
Lining up in the second row, Pounds would make a nice move in turns one and two as the race came to life to grab the lead, though Laney would work his way forward.
With Pounds working the Keller Auto Speedway cushion, Laney was able to make the bottom work as he moved from fourth to second in turns one and two on lap four, and began pressuring Pounds for the lead.
Taking the top spot on lap nine, Laney would slowly pull away from Pounds, and park his No. 5L machine in victory lane. Pounds would finish in the second spot, Tim Clark Jr third, Jimmy Reeves fourth, and Ethan Dotson would round out the Top Five.
Bryan Holder and Kelly Wilkinson would start on the front row of the 20-lap RaceChic IMCA Sport Mod A Main, and it was Holder jumping out to the early lead.
Drifting up off the racing surface, Holder would give up the top spot to Wilkinson, though Gary Dutton would lurk in the second spot. Following a lap six restart, Dutton would jump inot the top spot, as Ricky Childress, Jr ran in his wake.
With the final 13 laps going caution free, Dutton would check out from the field, and race his way to a convincing win. Childress would follow in the second position, as Wilkinson, Matthew Hagio, and Ben Lickey completed the Top-Five.
