PETERSEN MEDIA: Taking part in one of the biggest races of the year, Kyle Hirst and the Tiner Hirst Enterprise team would finish third in the final Trophy Cup points after finishing eighth in the 50-lap feature event.
“We had a really good weekend, and it was pretty cool to have the points lead heading into the feature,” Kyle Hirst said. “Rico was pretty dominant all week and we couldn’t get through the field as good as he was able to.”
A strong effort during Thursday night’s opener would set Hirst up well for Saturday night’s championship finale. Having issues on Friday, Hirst would use that as his throw away as he would sit fourth in points.
Lining up eighth in his heat race, Hirst would flex some muscle as he worked his way around the Thunderbowl Raceway at a torrid pace. Working his way through the field and finishing second, KH would find himself in a tie for the points lead with Cory Eliason.
Lining up 20thfor the 50-lap feature event, Hirst would simply focus on moving forward with the points oh so tight amongst the leaders.
Rung a really strong race, Hirst would work his way up into the Top-10 late, and as he would better his spot in the points seemingly with each move.
When the dust settled on the popular race, Hirst would accept the checkered flag with an eighthplace finish in the race, and that would put him third overall in Trophy Cup points.
“It is always fun racing with all these THE guys and I thank them for busting their butt’s,” Hirst said. “Thanks to all these great people who also support our team and allow us to have some fun.”
