Hirst Wins in Hanford, CA; Grabs Two Podiums

PETERSEN MEDIA- Kyle Hirst and his Roth Motorsports team had a stout weekend. In what was essentially a home weekend of racing for his Dennis and Teresa Roth owned team, Hirst picked up a win on Friday night, and charged from the back of the pack to finish in the third spot at the Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, CA.

“I can’t say enough about this Roth Motorsports team,” Kyle Hirst said. “We ran extremely well on Friday night, and everyone worked hard after having issues after hot laps on Saturday night, and we were able to race up to third.”

Opening the double-header weekend up Friday night, Hirst would time the Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/3H Cattle No 83jr machine in seventh fastest.

Finishing second in his heat race, the Paradise, CA driver would have a couple of things go his way, and he would sneak into the night’s Dash. Finishing fourth in the Dash, KH would line up in the second row of the feature event.

Jumping into the third spot when the race went green, Hirst was part of a three car battle for the lead in the opening stages of the event. Moving into second on the fourth lap, Hirst would forge his way into the lead on lap five.

Getting through traffic brilliantly, Hirst was able to keep a healthy advantage over second place, as he went on to grab the popular victory.

The King of the West Series would invade the Keller Auto Speedway on Saturday night, and after experiencing a part failure in hot laps, Hirst and his team would work feverishly to make repairs so Hirst could get a lap at the end of time trials.

Just barely making the call, Hirst would time in 10th fastest before finishing second in his heat race. Lining up 11th in the feature event, Hirst would get collected on one of several attempted starts and would come into the work area with nose wing damage.

Able to make repairs, Hirst would tag the back of the field with no laps in the books. When the race went green, Hirst showed he had a strong car as he was able to forge his way to the front in a hurry as he ran in the sixth spot when the yellow flag flew on the fifth lap.

Getting into the fifth spot on the restart, Hirst would run fifth with the red flag flew on the seventh lap, allowing teams to refuel. When the racing action resumed, Hirst would battle with Tyler Walker and Bobby McMahan as he fell back to the sixth spot, but was able to make a move to get around both drivers and work into the fourth spot.

A lap 13 restart would see Hirst get into the third spot as he chased after Dominic Scelzi and Shane Golobic. Getting close to the lead duo in the closing laps, Hirst could not get quite close enough, though he would take the checkered flag with a very hard fought third place finish.

“I would have loved to get the weekend sweep, but I am very proud of this Roth Motorsports team,” Hirst said. “I have to thank them for all of their hard work, as well as thank Dennis and Teresa Roth for letting us come out here. We ran very well, and I was happy to get a win, and be on the podium both nights.”

The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, 3H Cattle,  Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, KW Suspension, and Astro Titanium for their support in 2015.
