Hopkins Fourth at Marysville Raceway

PETERSEN MEDIA- Taking part in Placerville Speedway season opener on Saturday night as well as sneaking over to Marysville Raceway on Sunday, Shane Hopkins would finish 11th on Saturday before working his way to fourth on Sunday.

“Thanks to the guys who support me and this team,” Hopkins said. “We had a good car both nights, and it feels good to get back to racing a little more frequently.”

Sunday night at Marysville Raceway, Hopkins would time the High Sierra Industries/Interstate oil Company/C&H Motor Parts backed No. 21 machine in 12th fastest in time trials.

Finding himself on the front row of his heat race, Hopkins would take advantage as he picked up the win and made himself eligible for the nightly redraw.

Pulling the eighth pill, Hopkins would grid the field from the fourth row for the 25-lap feature event. Following track prep prior to the feature, the Marysville Raceway surface would be conducive to all sorts of maneuvering and would absolutely put on a show.

Working his way into the Top-Five, Hopkins would find himself in a very entertaining battle with Tanner Carrick. The duo would spend countless laps exchanging position inside the Top-Five, and it would be Hopkins getting the best of him as he would take the fourth spot and go on to finish there.

Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, a loaded 46 car field would see the track utilize the SCCT format so cars would time trial inside their hot lap and heat race groups.

Timing in sixth, Hopkins would then finish sixth in his heat race and be forced into the ‘B’. Able to win the ‘B’, Hopkins would advance into the feature event where he would line up in the 21st starting position.

On a track that was extremely racy and offered up multiple grooves, Hopkins would have his elbows up as he worked his way forward form the tail end of the field. With cautions seeming to fall at inopportune times for the Placerville, CA driver, he would still put on a nice charge as he capped his night with an 11th place finish.

“Big thanks to my Dad, John, Brin Sperry, Bobby, my uncle Jamie, and everyone else that pitched in and helped us out all weekend.”

Hopkins would like to thank High Sierra Industries, Interstate Oil Company, C&H Motor Parts, ARP, ADCO, Anrak, C&H Veteran Enterprises, Brian Sperry Racing, Capitol ACE Hardware, King’s Meats, LRB, Gary Morgan Graphics, Jake Morgan Racing, Johnson Motorsports, Joe Hunt Magnetos, Image Salon and Spa, PT Shocks, Tiner Hirst Enterprise, Kyle Johnson Racing, and Petersen Media for their support in 2020.
