Hopkins Second at Petaluma Speedway Following Tough Trip to Chico

PETERSEN MEDIA- A three-race week last week saw Shane Hopkins compete at both Silver Dollar Speedway and Petaluma Speedway. While he would have two less than desirable nights in Chico, CA, Hopkins made the Saturday tow to Petaluma Speedway worthwhile as he grabbed a second place finish.

“Chico on Wednesday and Thursday didn’t go to well, but fortunate we had a chance to redeem ourselves at Petaluma Speedway on Saturday night, and we did just that,” Shane Hopkins said.

Timing the High Sierra Industries/ARP/ADCO backed No. 21 machine in sixth quickest in qualifying time trials, the Placerville, CA driver knew he simply needed to transfer through his heat to qualify for the redraw.

Doing just that and finishing third, Hopkins would find himself with the four pill and in the second row to start the feature event. When the race came to life, Hopkins was strong on the Petaluma Gumbo, just as he was when he made a surprise visit a few weeks back.

Getting into the second position, Hopkins then had the daunting task of chasing down Petaluma Speedway veteran, Bradley Terrell. With traffic never really becoming an issue, Terrell was able to keep a healthy gap between himself and Hopkins.

Still doing a great job himself in limited appearances at the Sonoma-Marin County facility, Hopkins picked up a career best second place finish at the track.

“My Dad, Chris, and Jeremy did a great job all night long and I have to thank them for working so hard for me,” Hopkins said. “It was great getting a bunch of racing in last week, and I am excited to get back to Placerville on Saturday night.

Hopkins would like to thank High Sierra Industries, ARP, ADCO, C&H Veteran Enterprises, Soares Motorsports, Brian Sperry Racing, Capitol ACE Hardware, El Dorado Disposal, Gary Morgan Graphics, Jake Morgan Racing, Johnson Motorsports, MD Builders, Joe Hunt Magnetos, Image Salon and Spa, PT Shocks, Tiner Hirst Enterprise, Kyle Johnson Racing, and Petersen Media for their support in 2019.

2019 BY THE NUMBERS- Starts-21, Wins-1, Top-5’s-3, Top 10’s-8

ON TAP- Hopkins will be back in action on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway.
