Humphries’ King of the Wing Weekend Cut Short

PETERSEN MEDIA- Kicking off a scheduled three-race weekend on Friday night at the Madera Speedway with the King of the Wing Series, Eric Humphries would experience a mechanical failure late in the feature event that would eventually sideline him for the rest of the weekend.
“I was really pleased overall with the car on Friday night,’ Humphries said. “I felt like we had a Top-Five car, and it was going to set us up for a good weekend, but unfortunately we had some mechanical issues that ended our weekend early.”
With 30 King of the Wing drivers entered in the Friday night event, Humphries got his night started off great as he timed the Bella Construction No. 1 in AG Solar/Harvest Supply/Richard’s Bar and Grill No. 15 machine in third fastest in qualifying time trials.
Heat races on this night were essentially to allow drivers to shake down their cars, as the top-20 qualifiers locked directly into the 40-lap feature event. Starting scratch on the field, the Chowchilla, CA wheelman would finish in the seventh spot, and get his crew valuable information for the feature event.
The invert on Friday night would be a 10 and that would line Humphries up on the outside of the fourth row for the 40-lap A Main event. A cold night in Madera, CA made for tricky track conditions as passing would be very tough on this night.
Though he was lined up on the outside row with the bottom being the preferred groove, Humphries got off to a nice start aboard the Bella Construction No. 1 in AG Solar backed entry as he moved into the sixth spot, and chased after Troy DeCaire and JoJo Helberg.
With cautions plaguing the early goings of the feature event, traffic didn’t come into play until the middle stages of the race. Working hard on getting by Helberg and DeCaire, Humphries would notice something go south under the hood of his car and was forced to pull into the infield on the 20th lap.
“It was a disappointing night at the end, but I really want to thank everyone that was a part of the hard work that was put forward to prepare us for these three-nights of racing. We had a lot of people at the track on Friday night with us, and it was great to see them having a great time. We are already looking forward to 2016.”
Humphries and the S/E Motorsports team would like to thank Bella Construction #1 Sola Ag, Harvest Supply, Richard’s Bar and Grill, MSM Almond Services, T.O.E. Racing Engines, BR Motorsports, King Racing Products, DHR Suspension, DC Cleaners and Mott Bolding Motorsports for their continued support.
