PETERSEN MEDIA- Ian Madsen and KCP Racing had a very nice weekend in North Dakota. Friday night at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, ND Madsen charged from 17th to finish before tallying a ninth place finish on Sunday night in Minot, ND.
“We really had kind of been struggling as of late, so it was great to get into North Dakota and put together a great weekend,” Ian Madsen said. “My guys are always working hard to get us better and better so hopefully we can turn these Top-10’s into Top-5’s.”
The two-night stay in North Dakota kicked off on Friday night at the highly touted River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, ND. Madsen would get things started by timing the KCP Racing entry in 16th quickest in time trials on the high banked bullring.
Lining up fourth in his heat race, the St. Marys, NSW driver would finish in the same spot which meant he would take the green flag for the 40-lap feature event from the 16th starting position.
Multiple grooves were offered up to the field, and the show lived up to the hype with action taking place all over the bullring. Madsen would do a great job of carving his way forward as he worked his way up to seventh when the wild feature event came to an end.
Saturday night was a scheduled off-day for ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt’, and Sunday saw the series check into Minot, ND to go to work at the NoDak Speedway.
Madsen would continue to show speed that he displayed in Friday nights feature event as he kicked his night off by timing the Logan Contractors Supply, Inc./Aspen Aire/Royal Flooring entry in third quickest in time trials.
Finishing second in his heat race, Madsen would earn a berth in the Sears Craftsman Dash where his fifth place finish after having some problems placed him in the third row of the starting line up for the 30-lap ‘A’ Main.
Running inside the Top-10 from the race’s onset, Madsen would find himself racing with the likes of Brent Marks and Dominic Scelzi. Losing a couple of spots during the latter stages of the race, Madsen would continue to run inside the Top-10 as he closed the weekend out with a ninth place finish.
“It was a good consistent weekend, and we had some good speed,” Madsen said. “Looking forward to getting to some familiar tracks and putting this KCP Racing car up front where it belongs.”
Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, Team Kline Electric, Ted’s Body Shop, Bobcat, Team Excavating, Greenland Homes, Finer Cuts Lawn and Landscape, American Express, TammyHeckart.com, Quality Traffic Control, Bergen Paulsen, Coverage Direct, Revolution Race Gear, Monarch’s, and BK Racing Titanium for their support this season.
