PETERSEN MEDIA- Ian Madsen and his KCP Racing team put together a nice weekend as Madsen scored a second place finish at the Huset’s Speedway on Sunday night following a fifth place effort at the Knoxville Raceway on Saturday night.

“The more often we are able to race, the better we perform I feel,” Madsen would note. “This team is working very hard and we are all pleased with the direction we are headed.”

After a cut tire while running third with the World of Outlaws on Friday night got the weekend off to a tough start, Madsen and company rebounded very well.

Timing in at the Knoxville Raceway ninth fastest, the 2014 Track Champion would finish in the fifth at final transfer spot during heat race action. Lining up in the second row for the 20-lap main event, Madsen would run in the third spot aboard his Nehring Construction/Team Kline Electric/Logan Contractors Supply Inc. No. 18 machine as he chased after second running David Gravel.

Chasing down Gravel, the duo would battle for the second spot until Madsen took command of the position before feeling pressure from his brother, Kerry. In lapped traffic, Madsen would get held up and lose a few spots as he would take the Doug Clark checkered flag in the fifth position.

Huset’s Speedway was on tap on Sunday night and following a rain shower official’s opted to scratch time trials and make it a draw show. Drawing the pole for his heat race, Madsen would take advantage of the prime starting position and pick up the heat win.

Gridding the field from the fourth row for the feature event, Madsen got off to a great start, as he worked his way up to the fourth spot within the first five laps. Continuing to charge his way forward, Madsen cracked the top-three by lap 12 and then took over the second spot just a few laps later.

All over the leader with the laps clicking away, Madsen would make a bid for the top spot on a couple of occasions, but would come up just short as he settled for second in what was his team’s first 410ci start of the season at the track.

“I made a mistake on Saturday night that cost us a potential podium finish, and on Sunday night we had a car that was good enough to win, I just could not find a way around the leader,” Madsen would add. “Huge thanks to everyone on this team for continuing to work hard and support me.”

Ian and his KCP acing team would like to thank Nehring Construction, Team Kline Electric, Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Greenland Homes of Iowa, Royal Flooring, Aspen Aire Inc.
