PETERSEN MEDIA- Northern California rain washed out one of the two scheduled race’s in Stockton, CA over the weekend, but with track crews working hard to get Saturday night in, Madsen would take advantage of the chance to race and pick up a season best second place finish.

“I’m glad we were able to get a night of racing in, and it went well for our team,” Ian Madsen said. “Luck hasn’t been on our side much to start the season, so to get on the podium and finish second is great.”

With 39-cars checked in for the FVP Platinum Battery Western Spring  Shootout on Saturday night, Madsen got off to a great start as he timed the Logan Contractors Supply, Inc./Aspen Aire/Royal Flooring backed No. 18 machine in third quickest in his time trial flight.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, Madsen would finish in the second position which would be good enough to put him in the Craftsman Club Dash as well as transfer him directly into the 30-lap feature event.

Having some luck on his side during the Dash draw, Madsen would end up with the one pill which put him on the pole for the six-lap affair. Running third, Madsen would find himself in the second row for the impending feature event.

On a track that offered a little bit of everything on this night after getting pounded with rain all week, Madsen had his elbows up as he endured some treacherous conditions.

Jumping into the second position, Madsen would spend the duration of the 30-lapper chasing after leader, Cory Eliason. Doing what he would could to track down Eliason, Madsen would give the leader fits but ultimately brought his night to an end with a second place finish.

“We had a good car, but we really didn’t have anything for the 83 and I really want to congratulate Cory (Eliason) on picking up his first Outlaw win,’ Madsen noted. “My guys have been working hard night in and night out, and I am really pleased to get them a good result.”

Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, Team Kline Electric, Ted’s Body Shop, Bobcat, Team Excavating, Greenland Homes, Finer Cuts Lawn and Landscape, American Express, TammyHeckart.com, Quality Traffic Control, Bergen Paulsen, Coverage Direct, Revolution Race Gear, Monarch’s, and BK Racing Titanium for their support this season.
