PETERSEN MEDIA- With the three-day Jackson Nationals now in the books, Ian Madsen and KCP Racing capped the grueling week with an eighth place finish during the Saturday night feature event.

“It was a pretty good week of racing for our team,’ Ian Madsen said. “I think we were a top-five car on Saturday night, but I have to baby our tire home and we settled for eighth place.”

Opening the 41st Annual Jackson Nationals up on Thursday night by timing in third quick in his group and running third in his heat race, Madsen would line the Logan Contractors Supply Inc./Aspen Aire/Royal Flooring backed No. 18 up in the fifth row for the feature event.

In the fast paced feature, Madsen would pick up a couple of positions which was crucial for event points as he capped the night with a seventh place finish.

Friday night Madsen would get off to an even better start as he kicked the night off by earning quick time honors. Racing to a win in heat race competition, Madsen moved into the Dash where a fourth place finish put him in the second row to start the 30-lap feature event.

Running inside the Top-Five all race long, Madsen would battle the likes of Brad Sweet and David Gravel as the trio jockeyed for position. Able to stay in the Top-Five, Madsen would finish fifth and sat sixth in Jackson Nationals points heading into Saturday night’s finale.

Based on his point total, Madsen would line up on the front row of the second heat as he looked to transfer directly into the $41,000-to-win feature event. Picking up the win, Madsen would do just that as he would also advance to the Dash where an eighth place finish put him in the fourth row of the feature event.

On the extremely slick surface for the 35-lap feature event, Madsen would look sporty early as he battled with Brian Brown, and James McFadden at times. Running hard as rubber would go down on the speedway, Madsen would abuse his tires a little with the way track conditions were.

Backing off a little in the closing laps as he nursed his tire home, Madsen would cap the weekend off with a hard fought eighth place finish.

“Thanks to my guys for really giving me a great car all three nights,” Madsen said. “We were up front, we put ourselves in good spots each night, and we came home with a decent finish Saturday. I think we were better than where we finished but circumstances dictated a little of that.”

Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, Kline Electric, Ted’s Body Shop, Team Excavating, Greenland Homes, American Express, TammyHeckart.com, Quality Traffic Control, BergenKDV, P1  Race Wear, and BK Racing Titanium for their support this season.
