PETERSEN MEDIA- Saturday night was shaping up to be a great night for Ian Madsen and KCP Racing. A late flat tire negated a strong showing but the team will quickly put their misfortune behind them and kick off a trio of races in Texas tonight at Cotton Bowl Speedway.

“Saturday was a bummer,” Ian Madsen said. “We had a good battle going with Sheldon Haudenschild, lead some laps, and then we blew a tire with four laps to go and ended our night. We have speed, and fortunately with the race tonight we don’t have much time to dwell on it.”

Saturday night at I-55 Speedway in Pevely, MO, Madsen would kick his night off by timing the Logan Contractors Supply, Inc./Aspen Aire/Royal Flooring backed No. 18 entry in fifth quickest in his qualifying flight.

Picking up a second place finish in heat race competition, Madsen would move into the Dash where a second place finish put him on the front row of the 40-lap feature event.

When the race came to life on the high banked speedway, Madsen would jump out to the early lead as he would lead the first seven circuits with Sheldon Haudenschild applying pressure.

As Haudenschild moved into the lead on the eighth lap, Madsen continued to run strong as he rode in second with rubber going down on the speedway.

With the leaders getting into traffic, a slower car would cause Madsen to bobble and he would slip back to fourth in the latter stages of the race. Continuing to run solidly inside the Top-Five, trouble would occur for Madsen and KCP Racing with just four laps to go in the race as a shredded right rear tire would end the team’s night.

Also in action on Friday night at Riverside International Speedway, Madsen and company would have a night they wont dwell on too much that saw them record a 22nd place finish.

“Definitely have your mindset on Texas, and are focused on having three great showings at Cotton Bowl Speedway and Devils Bowl Speedway,” Madsen noted. “My guys work extremely hard day in and day out, and we have some great partners behind us that we want to run well for. We have good speed, we just need things to go our way and we are confident they will.”

Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, Team Kline Electric, Ted’s Body Shop, Bobcat, Team Excavating, Greenland Homes, Finer Cuts Lawn and Landscape, American Express, TammyHeckart.com, Quality Traffic Control, Bergen Paulsen, Coverage Direct, Revolution Race Gear, Monarch’s, and BK Racing Titanium for their support this season.
