Ian Madsen Picks Up Trio of Top-10’s

PETERSEN MEDIA- With rain again playing havoc on his schedule, Ian Madsen and his KCP Racing team were able to still get in a night of racing with the NSL and two nights with the World of Outlaws as the team picked up three Top-10 finishes.
“We had a very strong weekend,” Ian Madsen said. “We picked up a Top-5 finish with the NSL, and we ran up front with the World of Outlaws on Saturday and Sunday Night.”
Battling with the NSL on Friday night at the Park Jefferson International Speedway, Madsen would get his night started by timing the Nehring Construction/Team Kline Electric/Logan Contractors Supply No. 18 in fifth fastest during qualifying time trials.
Finishing third in his heat race, Madsen would grab a sixth place finish in the Dash to put his Greenland Homes of IA/Royal Flooring/Aspen Aire Inc. backed entry in the third row for the feature. Running inside the Top-Five all race long, Madsen would battle with Danny Lasoski and Terry McCarl as he picked up a fifth place finish in the feature event, as he continues to sit in the fifth spot of the season long points chase.
Rain forced the Knoxville Raceway to cancel early on Saturday giving Madsen and his team ample time to head to Cedar Lake, WI to race with the World of Outlaws. Qualifying ninth fastest, Madsen would storm to the heat race win before he finished sixth in the nightly Dash.
Battling for top-five position during the early part of the 35-lap feature event, Madsen would shuffle back a few spots as he battled with Joey Saldana and Jason Sides. Staying well inside the Top-10, Madsen would settle for a seventh place finish at the line.
Returning to action with the World of Outlaws on Sunday night, Madsen would time in 11th fastest and again earn a win during his heat race. Finishing eighth in the Dash, Madsen would share the fourth row with fellow Australian, Jamie Veal.
Putting together another strong run, the St. Marys, NSW driver would get up to the fourth spot late in the feature event as he chased after his older brother, Kerry, who ran just ahead of him in the third position.
A late restart was not what Madsen needed, and he would lose a few positions as he closed his weekend out with a sixth place effort.
“We had a great car all three nights, and that is a very good feeling with the races we have coming up,” Madsen said. “The guys are working well together, and this team is a pleasure to drive for.”
