Ian Madsen Picks Up Two World of Outlaws Top-10’s

PETERSEN MEDIA- A wild couple of days saw Ian Madsen and his KCP Racing team score a pair of Top-10 finishes with the ‘Greatest Show on Dirt’ as they competed at two familiar venues over the weekend.
“It is great to run so well with the World of Outlaws, but I need to get the job done and get a win for this team very soon,” Madsen added.
Taking to the Knoxville Raceway on Saturday night, Ian Madsen with time in 28th fastest overall but with a new World of Outlaws format in place he would be seventh fastest overall in his qualifying flight, and would find himself on the pole of his heat race, and promptly pick up the win.
Moving into the night’s dash, Madsen would put on a whale of a charge from his seventh starting spot to finish in the third spot, and put his Nehring Construction/Team Kline Electric/Logan Contractors Supply backed No. 18 machine in the second row of the feature event.
As the LCS’s were getting ready to hit the track, the sky opened up and persistent showers led to a very long rain delay as track crews tirelessly worked to keep the track in racing shape.
Though the track was very fast, the race did go on, and Madsen would settle into the fifth spot, as the race moved at a very torrid pace under a very dense fog that rolled into the area. On the 15th lap, a fellow competitor brought his machine to a stop and cited visibility issues and at that time officials deemed the race complete as the checkered flag flew after 2am local time.
A very long night led to a night trip to Brandon, SD as Madsen and his team followed the World of Outlaws to the Huset’s Speedway for a Sunday night showdown.
Timing in 12th fastest on an extremely slick racing surface, the St. Marys, NSW pilot would again pick up the heat race win and advance into the night’s dash for the second consecutive evening.
As the night wore on, passing became very tough, and Madsen would start and finish in the eighth spot, putting his entry in the fourth row for the feature event.
Comfortably running inside the Top-10 as the race wore on, Madsen took advantage of a wreck amongst the leaders, and move into the sixth position where he would eventually finish.
“We have been knocking on the door to victory lane as of late, and I feel a victory is coming soon,” Madsen added. “Everyone on this team is working hard, and we are continuing to improve our results every week it seems.”
