PETERSEN MEDIA- Finishing a season best fourth on Thursday night after an impressive run on Wednesday night was cut short due to a fuel issue, Ian Madsen was pleased with how the week went for his KCP Racing team. “Our Florida trip was pretty tough, and I was bummed the final night rained out because I think we made some good changes to our car, but we never got to try” Ian Madsen said. “Things seemed to have been for the better because we had a lot of speed in Las Vegas, NV.”

Timing the Logan Contractors Supply, Inc./Aspen Aire/Royal Flooring backed No. 18 machine in 12th fastest in his time trial group, Madsen would run fifth in his heat race and earn the final transfer into the 30-lap feature event.

From the 19th starting position, Madsen had a very strong KCP Racing entry underneath him. On a very racy Las Vegas Dirt Track surface, Madsen would quick  work his way forward into the Top-10.

Getting up to sixth at one point during the feature event as he would take advantage of restarts, Madsen’s good run would come to an end on the 25th lap as he was one of the early drivers to run out of fuel.

Disappointed in the result, but happy with the speed they had, Thursday saw Madsen time the Bobcat/Kline Electric/Ted’s Body Shop machine in second quickest in his qualifying group before racing to a heat race win.

Earning a berth into the DirtVision Fast Pass Dash, Madsen would tally a third place finish and roll off the starting grid from the third starting position.

On a slick surface that would eventually take rubber, Madsen would keep himself in contention during the duration of the 30-lapper. Able to keep his machine in the rubber once it started laying down on the track, Madsen would close a strong week out with a fourth place finish.

“After a couple of rainouts, it felt great to get back to the track, and put a tough start to the year behind us,” Madsen added. “Very pleased with the speed we had, and am very much looking forward to a busy month in California.”

Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, Kline Electric, Ted’s Body Shop, Team Excavating, Greenland Homes, American Express, TammyHeckart.com, Quality Traffic Control, BergenKDV, P1  Race Wear, and BK Racing Titanium for their support this season.
