Ian Madsen Pockets Top-10 In Opening Week of Action

PETERSEN MEDIA- Ian Madsen and his 2014 Knoxville Raceway Championship winning KCP Racing team kicked their 2015 season off over the last week with the World of Outlaws, and an up and down trip saw Madsen pick up a Top-10 finish.
“It was a trying week, and a promising week at times, but overall it was good to get back racing with the KCP Racing team,” Madsen said.
Getting his 2015 season underway last Wednesday night, Madsen timed his Nehring Construction/Team Kline Electric/Logan Contractors Supply backed No. 18 machine in 14th fastest, before racing his way to a second place finish in heat race action.
Transferring directly into the FVP Outlaw Showdown feature event, Madsen rolled off in the 15th starting position, on what was a pretty hooked up and rough track.
Battling with the likes of Danny Lasoski in the early stages of the main event, Madsen got his Greenland Homes of IA/Royal Flooring/Aspen Aire Inc. entry into the wall hard, and another competitor got into his left rear, and he went to the work area with two rear flat tires.
Making repairs, Madsen would restart the race, but his car did not feel right after the contact with the wall, and he opted to retire for the evening.
Thursday night saw the St Marys, NSW driver time his machine in fifth fastest, before finishing fourth in his heat race. As fate would have it, his brother, Kerry would win his heat race, and Madsen would ultimately get a berth in the dash.
Lining up on the front row of the dash, Madsen would run second, and start on tahe front row of the 30-lap feature event.
As the race got underway, Terry McCarl would get the jump, but Madsen would track him down and make a bid for the lead, but McCarl would answer, and the younger Madsen brother would settle into the second spot.
Running well inside the top three much of the race, Madsen would slowly fade towards the end of the feature as he seemed to have a right rear tire going down.
Hanging on best he could, Madsen would cross the stripe with a seventh place finish.
“We had a really good car on Thursday night, and I am certain we could have contended for a spot on the podium,” he added. “I have to thank my entire team for all of their hard work, and I am looking forward to a couple of weeks of racing in California.”
Ian and his KCP acing team would like to thank Nehring Construction, Team Kline Electric, Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Greenland Homes of Iowa, Royal Flooring, Aspen Aire Inc.
