PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to the Knoxville Raceway on Saturday night after a disappointing opener, Ian Madsen rebounded well as he picked up the 410ci feature event win right after finishing third in the 360ci feature event.

“It was a great weekend for this KCP Racing team, and it is really a credit to this team we have,” Madsen said. “We were all disappointed with how last week went so we beat our heads against the wall all week and came out with some really good car speed.”

Timing the Logan Contractors Supply Inc./Aspen Aire/Kline Electric No. 18 machine in third fastest in qualifying time trials, Madsen would advance from his sixth starting position in his heat race to finish in the fourth spot.

Lining up in the second row of the feature event, Madsen would battle with Brian Brown in the early going of the feature event before he finally took over the second spot.

Now chasing after Tim Kaeding for the second spot, Madsen would close in on him as he used the cushion as the leaders ran in heavy traffic. With Kaeding able to get to the lead, Madsen would then slide up in front of Davey Heskin to take over the second spot and continue his pursuit of Kaeding.

A caution would fly with just seven laps remaining, and the restart would see Madsen able to get around Kaeding and take the lead heading into turn one. Able to fend off Kaeding and a surging Brian Brown late in the race, Madsen was able to pick up his sixth career win at the Sprint Car Capitol of the World.

In 360ci action at the Knoxville Raceway, Madsen nearly matched his 410ci performance as he also timed in third fastest, but finished third in his heat race.

Gridding the field from the second row for the 18-lap contest, Madsen would battle with Justin Henderson for the first handful of laps before finally taking over the second spot on the eighth lap.

With the race leader checking out, Madsen would continue to run in second until Clint Garner began pressuring him in the closing laps. On the 13th lap, Garner would get by Madsen and he would go on to finish in the third spot.

Madsen and his KCP Racing team were also in action on Friday night with the MOWA and a second place run at the Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, IL would give the team three podiums on the weekend.

“We have had good speed all year, and this weekend was just what we needed,” Madsen added. “We picked up a win and we were competitive in every race we were in, and that is a great feeling. I really want to thank my guys, my car owner, and all of our sponsors for everything they do for us.”

Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Team Kline Electric, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, TammyHeckart.com, Caliber Iowa, Quality Traffic Control, Flatrate, Inc., Speck USA, Bergen Paulsen, Coverage Direct, Finer Cuts lawn and Landscape, Lucas Oil, and Revolution Race Gear for their support this season.
