PETERSEN MEDIA- The Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, CA can be very tough on racecars, and unfortunately Ian Madsen and his KCP Racing team got a taste of that last weekend.
“We just did not have much luck on our side,” Ian Madsen said. “We changed some things over the offseason, and we are still working through that, but my guys are working hard.”
Friday night saw Madsen come from the Last Chance Showdown, where he finished second, to transfer into the 35-lap feature event. Lining up in the 20th spot on a very rough track, Madsen went to work on what was a very tricky cushion.
On the 9th lap, the turn-three cushion bit Madsen, as he got into the wall, and laid his machine on it’s side. Making repairs in the work area, Madsen would restart the race, as he managed to finish in the 16th spot.
Saturday night again saw Madsen in the LCS, but on this night he would unfortunately not race his way into the feature event. On the extremely slick racing surface, cars checked up in front of Madsen, and as he checked up, contact to the rear of his car caused extensive damage, and his weekend was over.
“We didn’t have the speed we were looking for, but I am confident we will get it worked out for Stockton, CA this weekend,” he added. “Huge thanks to all of our supporters, and my guys for working so hard.”
