Ian Madsen Runs Well With World of Outlaws Again

PETERSEN MEDIA- In action with the World of Outlaws for two more events over the weekend, Ian Madsen and his KCP Racing team stacked up well against the best in the World as they scored finishes of eighth and 11th place.
“We had been looking forward to the World of Outlaws coming to Knoxville all year, and we were really pleased with how both Friday in Minnesota, and Saturday in Knoxville went,” he said.
Saturday night got off to a very fast start for Madsen, as he timed the Nehring Construction/Team Kline Electric/Logan Contractor Supply No. 18 machine in fourth fastest.
The heat race got off to a good start for Madsen, but ‘Dyno’ got over the turn four cushion, and into the wall, ending his heat, and forcing him into the B main event.
With the crew getting his machine fixed, Madsen was able to make it out for the B Main event, where he picked up a second place finish behind brother, Kerry, and transferred to the feature event.
Lining up 10th in the feature event, Madsen had a very strong car, and he was able to move forward, as he mixed it up with a combination of Knoxville’s best, as well as the World of Outlaws best, and when the night came to a close, he finished in the eighth spot.
“It was a great finish for us, but I really wish our heat would have gone with no issues, and we could have made the dash,” he said. “Michael and Leonard worked well all night, and it was great to have all of our partners who were on hand on the suite come down afterwards and check everything out.”
Friday night, Ian and his team were in action in Jackson, MN, and they were very strong there as well, as Madsen timed in 12th fastest.
Heat race action saw him run second to Joey Saldana, and put him in the feature event, where he would roll off in the 12th spot.
On a track that was very slick and abrasive, rubber began being laid on the speedway in the early goings, and passing nearly became impossible.
Grabbing the 11th spot in opening stages, Madsen would hang on and finish in that position.
“Over the last two weeks we have been one of the better cars with the series, and that is a testament to my crew guys, Leonard and Michael,” he added. “It is a great feeling as a driver knowing how good we are, and it has me even more excited than normal to get to the track on a nightly basis.”
