PETERSEN MEDIA- Ian Madsen overcame a heat race wreck on Friday night to score a second place finish with the NSL Series aboard a very battered Nehring Construction/Team Kline Electric/Logan Contractors Supply No. 18 machine.

“Friday night we were in a big heat race wreck, but my guys were able to get us fixed up and we made the call for the feature event,” Madsen said. “We had a pretty bent up car, but we were really strong.”

Timing in sixth fastest in qualifications, Ian Madsen would get involved in a heat race wreck that relegated him to a fourth place finish. With his machine in bad shape, his KCP Racing team would go to work to get Madsen ready for the A.

Doing all they could, Madsen would make the call for the feature event, though his machine was still pretty bent up. From his second row starting position, the St. Marys, NSW driver jumped into the third spot as he chased after Balog and Jeffrey.

At the race’s halfway point, Madsen would dive under Jeffrey to take over the second spot as he then set his sights on Balog who led the way. Reeling Balog in amidst lapped traffic, he would not get close enough to make a move as he would tally a second place finish.

Saturday night the NSL headed to the Cedar Lake Speedway where Madsen would kick his night off by timing in eighth fastest. Finishing fifth in his heat race, Madsen would just narrowly miss out on earning a berth in the nightly redraw.

Gridding the field from the sixth row, Madsen would work his way forward as he would earn a seventh place finish on this night. With just one weekend of NSL racing left in October, Madsen currently sits in the second spot of the inaugural season standings.

“I was pleased that we were still able to be competitive on Friday night considering how torn up some of the equipment was,” Madsen added. “Overall it was a pretty good weekend for our team and now we will focus on taking on the World of Outlaws this weekend.”

Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Nehring Construction, Team Kline Electric, Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Greenland Homes of Iowa, Royal Flooring, Aspen Aire Inc. Heating and Cooling, Bobcat, The Stone Shop, Gator Excavating, TammyHeckart.com, Van Gorp Construction, Caliber Iowa, Quality Traffic Control, Flatrate, Inc.,  Speck USA, Kustom Concrete Pumping, Lucas Oil, Revolution Race Gear, INSPRO Insurance, Monarchs Restaurant and Lounge, Climate Master- Geothermal Heating and Cooling,  XXX Race Co., Wings Unlimited for their support this season.
