Ian Madsen Second at Huset’s
PETERSEN MEDIA- Ian Madsen and his KCP Racing team simply want to race. With rain winning at the Knoxville Raceway for the third consecutive week, Madsen and his team bolted their 360ci power plant into their car, and headed to the Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, SD for their season opener, and picked up a second place finish.
“With this crazy weather, we are just trying to get anywhere possible to race, and we were able to get to Huset’s on Sunday night and have a pretty good run,” Madsen said.
With 27 cars on hand for the season opener in the 360ci division, Madsen drew a four for his heat race, and was able to work his way up to the second spot at the finish line, and earn a spot in the Top-12 redraw.
Finding himself with the 11-pill, Madsen would line his Nehring Construction/Kline Electric/Logan Contractors Supply Inc. No. 18 machine up in the sixth row for the 25-lap feature event.
Just like he did a week ago with the IRA, Madsen was able to charge his way forward, as he had his Kyle Ripper prepared entry working through traffic. In what was a non stop feature, Madsen would ultimately work his way up to the second spot at the waiving of the checkered flag.
“It was great to move forward like we did in a non-stop affair,” Madsen said. “Bret Nehring (Team Owner), and Matt Barbara (Team Manager) were in attendance, and they haven’t been able to see many races this year, so it was nice to have a good showing in front of them. Kyle Ripper and myself are starting to gel, so hopefully we can get some good weather, and string some races together.”
