Ian Madsen Second at Huset’s

PETERSEN MEDIA- With weather nearly devastating the Huset’s Speedway, which was underwater earlier in the week, crews worked around the clock to get it into shape, and it paid off for all as Ian Madsen closed his weekend out with a second place finish.

“We had a busy weekend, and after tough start to it, it was nice to close it out with a great run on Sunday night,” Madsen said.

Sunday night saw Ian Madsen time his Nehring Construction/Team Kline Electric/Logan Contractors Supply machine in fourth fastest before he went on to finish in the fourth spot in his heat race.

Lining up in the third spot in the feature event, Madsen worked his way into the second spot as he chased after former World of Outlaw star, Craig Dollansky.

Shadowing Dollansky’s every move, Madsen stalked the leader looking for any opening he could to sneak by and take the stop spot.

Giving the leader all he could handle, Madsen came up just short and finished in the second spot.

“It was great getting back to Huset’s after all of the weather they have had,” Madsen said. “Everyone should commend the crews for getting it into shape, and we were pumped because of how well we run there.”

Saturday night at the Knoxville Raceway, Madsen’s night started off very well as he timed the Royal Flooring/Greenland Homes of Iowa/QTC backed entry in sixth fastest.

Running fourth in his heat, Madsen lined his machine up in the second row for the feature event, but when the green flag dropped, something went south.

Noticeably fighting his machine, Madsen slipped through the field, after having such a good starting spot.

Trying everything he could to get his machine figured out, Madsen’s night came to an end with a 13th place finish.

“We really aren’t sure what happened,” Madsen said. “We were pretty good all night, and then in the feature something went wrong, and we will go through what we can this week at the shop to get it figured out.”

Madsen’s weekend started off with the World of Outlaws at the River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, ND, and in time trials he timed in 14th fastest.

Getting through his heat race, Madsen lined up in the eighth row for the feature event, and had a very good car, as he took a liking to the top side of the speedway and went forward.

Working up to the eighth spot, Madsen fell victim to a pile up in front of him, and as he was collected in the wreck, he was forced to the tail end of the field.

From the back, Madsen continued to impress as he was methodical as he worked his way back up to a 12th place finish at the stripe.

“We were all a little disappointed that we got collected in the wreck once we got inside the Top-10, but to come from the back in a few laps and finish 12th was huge.”
