PETERSEN MEDIA- Spending the weekend competing with the brand new GoMuddy NSL 360 series at the 81 Speedway, Ian Madsen rebounded from a blown tire on Friday night to finish in the second spot on Saturday.

“It was a good weekend for our team at the 81 Speedway,” Ian Madsen said. “We had a good run going on Friday night until we lost the tire, and on Saturday night we were contending for the lead until a late caution negated our progress.”

Lining up sixth in his heat race on Friday night, Madsen would gain valuable points as he advanced t to earn a third place finish. Moving into the qualifier, the St. Marys, NSW driver would like up in the fifth spot and finish fourth which would ultimately line him up in the fifth row for the 25-lap A Main event.

Gridding the field alongside Tony Bruce, Jr, Madsen would get off to a strong start as he began working his way forward. Getting up as high as the sixth spot and gaining, Madsen’s Logan Contractors Supply/Aspen Aire/Team Kline Electric backed No. 18 machine would have a tire blow, and Madsen’s night would come to a close.

Returning to the 81 Speedway on Saturday night, Madsen would get his night off to a great start as he lined up on the pole of his heat race, which he won, and then lined up fifth in his qualifier, and won that, and ended up lining his Royal Flooring/Bobcat/TammyHeckart.com entry up on the pole for the 35-lap A main event.

Sharing the front row with Derek Hagar, Madsen would fall to the second position as the race got underway. Keeping the leader in striking distance over the duration of the race, Madsen closed in on him in traffic with just 10-laps to go. To Madsen’s dismay, a late caution flag would negate his progress and would give the leader a clear track with just eight laps to go.

Giving it a valiant effort over the final green flag run of the night, Madsen’s bid for the win would come up short though he would be pleased with a second place finish.

“It was a great event and I think we put on a pretty good show for the fans,” Madsen added. “We are all looking forward to getting into our weekly routine, and this was a good start.”

Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Team Kline Electric, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, TammyHeckart.com, Caliber Iowa, Quality Traffic Control, Flatrate, Inc., Speck USA, Bergen Paulsen, Coverage Direct, Lucas Oil, and Revolution Race Gear for their support this season.
