PETERSEN MEDIA- Spending their Saturday night with over 1000 sponsors and fans during the Knoxville Raceway’s season opening event, Ian Madsen and KCP Racing would pick up a seventh place finish.

“We were really fast all night long,” Ian Madsen said. “We didn’t get off to a great start and with the race going non stop it kind of hurt us. Still, an extremely deep field of cars so all in all it was a good night.”

Timing the Logan Contractor’s Supply Inc./Aspen Aire/Royal Flooring backed No. 18 machine in eighth quickest in qualifying time trials, the two-time Knoxville Raceway Champion would charge from fifth to second in his heat race.

Moving into the first 20-lap feature event of the year at the ‘Mecca of Mud’, Madsen would take the green flag from the seventh starting position. On a very slick Knoxville Raceway surface, Madsen would slip back on the start as he found himself fighting to stay inside the Top-10.

Working his way up into ninth and then eight, Madsen would continue to search around the slick surface as numerous different grooves were presented to the stout field.

Running through traffic and slower cars, Madsen would continue to fight forward as he raced with Indy Race Parts teammates Parker Price-Miller and Gio Scelzi towards the end of the race.

Going non-stop, Madsen would close his Saturday night out with a seventh place finish.

“It was good to get home and race in front of so many partners, and friends,’ Madsen said. “We had like 1000 people at our appreciation party, so that was huge. We got a Top-10, learned some things, and we are ready to get back with the Outlaws this weekend.”

Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, Kline Electric, Ted’s Body Shop, Team Excavating, Greenland Homes, American Express, TammyHeckart.com, Quality Traffic Control, BergenKDV, P1  Race Wear, and BK Racing Titanium for their support this season.
