Ian Madsen Takes Home Two World of Outlaws Top-10’s

PETERSEN MEDIA- After spending a few days with the All Star Circuit of Champions during their Thunder Through the Plains swing, Ian Madsen and KCP Racing returned home to Knoxville Racing over the weekend to compete with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series.

“We had lofty expectations heading into the weekend as we got back on our home turf, but we just missed it a little,” Ian Madsen said. “Tyler and Adam continue to work so hard on this car, we are chomping at the bit to get back to racing action to try again.”

Friday night at Knoxville Raceway, Madsen got the night started by timing the Logan Contractors Supply, Inc./Aspen Aire/Royal Flooring backed No. 18 machine in fastest in his qualifying flight.

Lining up on the front row of his heat, Madsen would pocket a second-place finish and make his way into the DirtVision Fast Pass Dash. Finishing fourth in the sixth-lap Dash, Madsen would take the green flag from the second row to start the 25-lap feature event.

Battling inside the Top-10 for the duration of the feature the two-time Knoxville Raceway Champion would battle with the likes of Carson Macedo and Sheldon Haudenschild as they jockeyed for position.

When Justin Clark’s checkered flag was displayed to the field, Madsen would end his Friday night with a sixth-place finish.

Back for more on Saturday night, Madsen would kickstart the night by timing in sixth quickest in qualifying time trials.

Gridding the field form the second row for heat race competition, Madsen would pick up a third-place finish which would send him directly to the final 30-lap feature event of the weekend.

Taking the green flag from the inside of the sixth row, Madsen would quickly work his way into the Top-10. As the race moved along, Madsen would find himself battling for position with the likes of older brother, Kerry, as well as Rico Abreu.

Unable to mount a charge through the Top-10, Madsen would keep his track position as he capped the weekend off with a ninth-place finish.

“We were decent all weekend, but Knoxville is place we really look forward to racing, and we want to perform our best there because it is our home, and it is where so many of our partners are located,” Madsen said. “It was great to see so many people, and have fans get to come down and interact. Thanks to all my guys and our partners for their efforts.”

Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, , Ted’s Body Shop, Team Excavating, Cox Design and Fabrication, Armor Electric Company, TammyHeckart.com, Quality Traffic Control, BergenKDV, and BK Racing Titanium for their support this season.
