PETERSEN MEDIA- After winning his last race of the 2014 calendar year, Jonthan Allard carried the momentum over to 2015, as he picked up a second place finish on New Year’s Day, before scoring his first win of the New Year on Saturday night.
“This car has been awesome as of late, and it is great to get in the win column already in 2015,” he noted.
With a packed house on hand on Saturday night as the sprint cars competed alongside the international midget series, Allard would finish in the fourth spot of his first heat race, before picking up the heat win during his second heat aboard the Porter Group/Hydraulink/Motul No. 0 machine.
Lining up on the front row of the feature event, the Chico, CA native slipped to the second position as he chased down Jamie McDonald, only to make a bold move on the outside in the early laps, to grab the lead.
Out in front, Allard was in command of the race, as he could put his entry anywhere he needed on the track, as he won the race going away.
Ringing in the New Year on Thursday, Allard would pocket a fourth place finish in his first heat of the evening before grabbing a win during his second heat of the evening.
Starting on the pole of the feature event, Allard would slip to the second spot, as young gun, Daniel Eggleton jumped out to the early lead.
Stalking Eggleton’s every move, Allard could not get close enough to make a serious bid for the top spot, but it was not from lack of effort.
Trying everything he could on this night, Eggleton was just too good, and Allard settled for a second place finish.
“We have really been going good this season, and I owe it all to my great sponsors, and the guys who help me work on this thing.”
