PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to racing action in the United States for the first time since the 2017 Trophy Cup, Jonathan Allard did not miss a beat as he went toe-to-toe with the King of the West regulars and scored a second place finish during Saturday night’s Peter Murphy Classic.

“Man, I can’t thank the Offill family enough for giving me an opportunity to race, and show that I am still capable,” JA said. “It was great to have Ashley Smith in my corner again, and really just had a blast being in the seat and competing in a race that means so much to me.”

Piloting the famed Country Builders Construction backed No. 88 machine that was so potent in the Golden State for so long with a myriad of drivers, Allard was up to the task as he kicked the night off by timing in seventh quickest amongst the 25 drivers checked in to the Thunderbowl.

Picking up an important heat race win, JA would have enough points to qualify for the pole shuffle, and the final match would come down to an old rivalry, between himself and Tim Kaeding.

A heated battle saw Kaeding just edge JA out at the line, but with TK taking the challenge, Allard would lead the field to green from the pole as he looked for his second PMC triumph.

Settling into second when the race came to life, Allard would stalk early leader Colby Copeland, until inheriting the lead on the 12th lap with Copeland having issues.

Leading the next five laps, Allard would soon feel pressure from Bud Kaeding who wrestled the top spot away on the 17th lap and distanced himself from the field until the yellow flew with six markers left in the race.

Chasing after Kaeding, Rico Abreu would take over the second position in a close battle with Allard, and as the white flag waived chaos would ensue with the leader getting over in three and four.

Giving Abreu one last challenge, Allard would come up just short as he capped his return to racing out with a second place finish.

“Getting back in the seat has been a long time coming, and it feels great to have speed and success right away,” Allard said. “The entire Offill family has been great, and I can’t thank them enough for the opportunity.”

Allard would like to thank Country Builders Construction, Ochoco West, Boise Cascade, Maas Brothers Powdercoating, Offill Family Farms, Walker Performance Filtration, Brown and Miller,  ButlerBuilt, King Racing Products, Red Line Oil, Smith Precision Products, KSE Racing Products, NGK Spark Plugs, FK Rod Ends, Hunt Magnetos, Longacre Products, A.R.T. Speed Equipment, AL Driveline, and Hoosier Tire for their support.

2018 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-1, Wins-0, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-1.

ON TAP: JA is unsure when his next race will be.
