Jace Vander Weerd Charges to Seventh at the PAS
PETERSEN MEDIA- Continuing to get better at the Perris Auto Speedway, a track that is admittedly the most challenging for him, Jace Vander Weerd turned in a strong showing on Saturday night as he charged from 15th to finish seventh with the USAC/CRA Series.
“We timed in pretty bad, but the guys went to work and we made a ton of good changes that helped us the rest of the night,” Jace Vander Weerd said.
Lining up on the front row of his heat race, Vander Weerd would jump out to the early lead and proceed to pick up the win aboard his Vander Weerd Construction/Stonegate Development/Battery Worx backed No. 88v entry.
Moving into the ‘Tribute to Indy’ feature event, the Visalia, CA driver had his work cut out for him as he was slated to roll off the grid in the 15th starting position. Continuing to get is car better, Vander Weerd got off to a nice start as he raced wheel to wheel with some of the series’ top drivers.
Working his way into the Top-10, Vander Weerd had a very good run going, but still wanted more. As the laps ticked down, Vander Weerd would battle with Brody Roa and Max Adams as he got into the seventh spot just before the race came to a close.
“Perris is so tough for me, so to charge forward like we did is a huge confidence boost,” Vander Weerd added. “We go back there in a couple of weeks and I am really looking forward to it.”
