PETERSEN MEDIA- After spending a week in Pennsylvania helping out his brother, Richard, during the USAC Eastern Storm, Jace Vander Weerd returned to action over the weekend as he charged forward to finish in the sixth spot on Friday night at the Keller Auto Speedway a night before finish 11th with the USAC/CRA Series at the Perris Auto Speedway.

“It was nice to be back racing,” Jace Vander Weerd said. “We had a good car on Friday night, and Saturday night I just was not as aggressive as I needed to be.”

Climbing back aboard his winged 360ci machine on Friday night for the second of four ‘Battle For The Milk Can’ events, Jace Vander Weerd got his night started off by timing the Vander Weerd Construction/Stonegate Development/Battery Worx No. 88v machine in 17th fastest in time trials.

From the pole of his heat race, the Visalia, CA driver would take advantage of the starting spot and leave the field in his wake as he worked his way around the slicked off Keller Auto Speedway to pick up the heat race win.

Lining up in the eighth row of the feature event, Vander Weerd would get off to a slow start as he tried to figure out the bottom groove of the speedway. As his car came to him as the race wore on, Vander Weerd was able to make headway late in the race and end his night with a very nice run in the sixth position.

Shedding the wings on Saturday night, Vander Weerd and his team were back in action at the Perris Auto Speedway in Lake Perris, CA. Timing in 11th fastest on this night, Vander Weerd would again pick up a heat race win aboard his Mid-Valley Pipe/Basic Industries/SWE backed entry.

Moving into the feature event, Vander Weerd would grid the field from the sixth row. Battling within the Top-10 during much of the race, the Visalia, CA product admittedly wasn’t aggressive as he should have been in traffic, and ultimately settled for an 11th place finish.

“We had a good car on Saturday night, but the driver made some bad decisions, and wasn’t aggressive,” Jace Vander Weerd added. “Perris has never been a strong track for me, so it’s nice to put together some decent finishes there.”

Jace and his Vander Weerd Racing team would like to thank Vander Weerd Construction, Stonegate Development, Battery Worx, Mid-Valley Pipe, Basic Industries, Steve Watt Enterprises, FK Rod Ends, PXP Raceway and K&N for their support in 2015.

2015 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-19, Wins-0, Top 5’s-2, Top 10’s-13.

ON TAP: Jace will be back in action this Saturday night at the Santa Maria Speedway as he returns to action with the USAC West Coast 360 series.
