PETERSEN MEDIA- After a week off, Jace Vander Weerd returned to action and picked up his best winged sprint car finish to date, as he charged to third on Friday night at the Keller Auto Speedway.

“My guys have done a great job getting me more comfortable each winged race, and Friday night was a great night for us,” Vander Weerd said.

Getting his night started off by timing the Vander Weerd Construction/Stonegate Development/Battery Worx backed No. 88v machine in 10th fastest during the qualifying session, Vander Weerd would line up on the front row of his heat race.

Finishing second during his heat, Vander Weerd would miss out on the Dash berth and would grid the field from the sixth row for the 30-lap feature event. Getting off to a nice start, Vander Weerd would get his machine moving forward as the track seemed to get more racy lap after lap.

Working his way into the Top-Five late in the race, Vander Weerd looked for more as he carved his way up into the third spot when the checkered flag flew.

Heading to the Perris Auto Speedway on Saturday night with the USAC/CRA series, Vander Weerd would again get his Mid-Valley Pipe/Basic Enterprises/Basic Industries backed entry in 10th fastest.

Failing to get out of his heat, the Visalia, CA driver would put together a good run during the night’s B-Main and would transfer into the A-Main event.

Lining up in the ninth spot for the A Main, Vander Weerd would experience issues with his brakes during the race, and would eventually turn in early, and end his night.

Jace and his Vander Weerd Racing team would like to thank Vander Weerd Construction, Stonegate Development, Battery Worx, Mid-Valley Pipe, Basic Industries, Steve Watt Enterprises, FK Rod Ends, PXP Raceway and K&N for their support in 2015.

2015 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-28, Wins-0, Top 5’s-3, Top 10’s-18.

ON TAP: Jace and his team return to action this Saturday night at the Santa Maria Speedway with the USAC West Coast 360 Series.
