Jace Vander Weerd Picks Up USAC West Coast Top-10

PETERSEN MEDIA- Spending Saturday night at the Santa Maria Speedway in Nipomo, CA with the USAC West Coast 360 Series, Jace Vander Weerd picked up a Top-10 finish with the series as he sits third in the 2015 Championship Standings.
“The track was pretty slick, and we just tightened up too much for the feature event,” Jace Vander Weerd said. “The track ended up getting better in the A, and building a cushion and we struggled a little.”
Getting his night started off by timing his Vander Weerd Racing/Vander Weerd Construction/Stonegate Development No. 88 machine in ninth fastest, Vander Weerd would then tally a sixth place finish in heat race action.
The extremely slick track surface would see Vander Weerd and his team continue to tighten their car up for the feature event, and as fate would have it, the track would come back a little as the feature wore on.
As the speedway developed a thin cushion, much of the field would run against it, and Vander Weerd’s machine was just a little tight from his fifth row starting spot. Doing everything he could to keep his machine moving the right way, Vander Weerd would close his Saturday night with an eighth place finish.
“With the track building the cushion and getting better, we just went too far,” Vander Weerd said. “We are happy with the Top-10, and hopefully we can have a really good run on Saturday night in Hanford, CA.
