PETERSEN MEDIA- The Labor Day weekend brought on three more races for Ian Madsen and his KCP Racing team; two of which were held at the Jackson Speedway for the Jackson Nationals where Madsen would finish third during the Friday night preliminary event.

“Overall we had a really good weekend with the National Sprint League,” Madsen said. “We ran well at the Jackson Nationals and I thought we were strong on Sunday night at the Huset’s Speedway.

Taking to the Jackson Speedway in Jackson, MN on both Friday and Saturday night, Madsen would open up the Jackson Nationals by timing his Nehring Construction/Team Kline Electric/Logan Contractors Supply No. 18 machine in fourth fastest.

Working from sixth to third in his heat, Madsen would pull the six pill in the redraw, putting him in the third row for the 20-lap feature event. Working into the third spot, Madsen would find himself chasing after Sammy Swindell and Brian Brown.

In the latter stages of the race, the lead duo would make contact, and Madsen would make a bid for the race’s top spot. Though the leader would gather their machines up, Madsen would close the night out with a third place finish.

Locking into the Saturday night feature event by way of his Friday night performance, Madsen would look to add to his point total as he timed in 13th fastest.

Finishing fourth in his heat race, the St. Marys, NSW pilot would line up in the seventh spot of the feature event. On a track that saw much of the field run up top, Madsen would battle with Terry McCarl and Bill Balog during much of the night, until having his hands full with a surging Davey Heskin.

When the checkered flag flew on the Jackson Nationals, Madsen would cross under it in the seventh spot.

Sunday night saw the series take to the Huset’s Speedway for the final time in 2015. Timing in sixth fastest, Madsen would finish second in his heat race, and pull the eight pill during the redraw.

Just as he did during the series’ last visit to the high-banked Huset’s Speedway, Madsen was able to work his way forward. Racing by Danny Lasoski and Lyton Jeffery, Madsen was able to close his weekend out with another top-five finish as he finished in the fourth spot.

“For some reason our draws have just been dismal,” Madsen said. “We have really good speed, but with the field of cars we have, it is tough to come from the third and fourth row night in and night out. I have to thank my guys for giving me a good car all weekend long, and hopefully we can keep running up front this weekend.”

Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Nehring Construction, Team Kline Electric, Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Greenland Homes of Iowa, Royal Flooring, Aspen Aire Inc. Heating and Cooling, Bobcat, The Stone Shop, Gator Excavating, TammyHeckart.com, Van Gorp Construction, Caliber Iowa, Quality Traffic Control, Flatrate, Inc.,  Speck USA, Kustom Concrete Pumping, Lucas Oil, Revolution Race Gear, INSPRO Insurance, Monarchs Restaurant and Lounge, Climate Master- Geothermal Heating and Cooling,  XXX Race Co., Wings Unlimited for their support this season.
