Jake Morgan Sensational in Hunt Series Season Opener at Placerville Speedway

(PETERSEN MEDIA-Placerville, CA)- Jake Morgan has become quite tough to beat when the Joe Hunt Wingless Series checks into Placerville Speedway. That remained true on Saturday night as Morgan wrestled the lead away from Braidon Moniz and went on to win the season opening event in convincing fashion .

Piloting a Snow Motorsports entry, Morgan was able to work his way forward by using the bottom of the Placerville Speedway surface. While he came forward from his fifth starting position, Moniz was in cruise control up front.

As Morgan broke into second, on the fourth lap of the race, he was able to power into the lead on the race’s fifth circuit.

While he was able to break away from the pack, Bradley Terrell, Geoff Ensign, and Shane Hopkins were doing a great job working their way forward after starting deep in the field.

Morgan was able to win the race convincingly despite a late yellow. Moniz was able to hang on to second, as Bradley Terrell was able to round out the podium after starting seventh.

13th starting Geoff Ensign had his elbows up as he charged to a fourth place finish, but the biggest mover and shaker of them all was Shane Hopkins who rode from dead last to finish fifth and earn the Santomaruo Racing Products Hard Charger award.

Bradley Terrell opened the night up by earning Ashely Van Den Berg Home Loans Fast Time Award, while Nick Robfogel won Benic Enterprises Heat Race No. 1, Matt Streeter won Brown and Miller Racing Solutions Heat Race No. 2, Moniz won Heat Race No. 3, and Tim Sherman Jr. won Santomauro Heat Race No. 4.

A total of 29 cars were on hand for the season opening event and a B Main was used which was won by Cameron Martin.

Other contingency awards handed out on Saturday night were the Benic Enterprises 1st Non Transfer Award that went to Scott Clough, and the TDS Hard Luck Award that went to Danile Whitley.
