PETERSEN MEDIA- Making a couple of mistakes during qualifying time-trials, Jarrett Soares was able to rebound on Saturday night and race his way into the King of the West feature event.

“I made a couple of mistakes qualifying and almost spun out, and that put us in a huge hole for the rest of the night,” Soares said.

With 28 cars on hand for the Bullring Nationals, Soares would get out of shape in the qualifying session and end up timing the American Tool & Mfg/Performance Powder Coating/A.R.T. No. 12 machine in 27th fastest.

Running the B Main after a sixth place finish in his heat race, the Discovery Bay, CA driver would keep his nose clean and avoid a couple of wrecks that were in front of him.

Getting in to the seventh spot, Soares would make a late move to get him in the sixth and final transfer position into the 30-lap feature event.

Achieving his goal of making the feature event, Soares would keep his Bailey Brothers Racing Engines powered machine on the lead lap, as he battled in the back of the pack on an extremely slick Placerville Speedway surface.

On the last lap, Soares would get collected in a turn four wreck, and would be scored with a 19th place finish.

“My Dad and my crew chief, Brian Sperry, worked hard to give me a good car and a shot at making the feature event, and it paid off,” Soares added. “Considering the track conditions, I could not have been happier with how comfortable I was in the car. I also have to thank all of our partners and the rest of my family for what they do to keep me racing each week.”

Jarrett and his Soares Motorsports team would like to thank American Tool & Mfg., C&H Vet Ent., Performance Powder Coating, Addicted Industries Clothing, A.R.T., Bailey Brothers Racing Engines, Excel Environmental, Simpson Race Products, McMahan Motorsports, CSI Shocks, and Brad Scadden Designs for their support.

ON TAP: Soares will be back in action on Saturday night at the Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, CA for the 2nd Annual Peter Murphy Classic.
