PETERSEN MEDIA- Battling with the Civil War Series on Saturday night in Watsonville, CA, Jarrett Soares would seemingly have a Murphy’s Law type of night as anything that could go wrong, seemed to go wrong for his Jarrett Soares Racing team.

“We haven’t ever really had mechanical issues, and Saturday night they seemed to plague us,” Jarrett Soares said. “It’s a testament to my guys for always providing me with an extremely reliable car, but we will put this one behind us and look forward to the next KWS race.”

Making the wrong gearing choice in qualifying time trials, Soares would get behind the eight ball early in the night as a 17th quick qualifying effort would line him up in the second row of his heat race.

Working into a transfer position, Soares would feel a rear shock start to give way, and it would force him to get into protect mode as he looked to transfer directly into the 50-lap feature event.

Unable to hang out, Soares would fall back to sixth and find himself in the night’s 12-lap Last Chance Showdown. Picking up a third place finish in the semi, the Discovery Bay, CA driver would punch his ticket into the 50-lap 57th Johnny Key Classic feature event, where he lined up in the 18th starting position.

On a wicked fast racing surface, passing would be tough in the early goings of the feature event, and Soares would try all he could to stay on the lead lap in the 50-lapper.

As leaders were quick to get to the back of the field, Soares would see a yellow flag keep him on the lead lap, but on the 15th circuit, he would not be so lucky as he would fall a lap down, and then see a power steering line fail bringing his feature event to an early end.

“It was a long race, so I was trying to go forward and stay on the lead lap as we waited for the track to widen out,” Soares said. “Unfortunately early in the race we had a part failure and it ended our night. It’s a bummer, but like I said we have been fortunate to not have any part failures this year.”

Jarrett and his Jarrett Soares Racing team would like to thank American Tool & Mfg., C&H Veteran Enterprises, Performance Powder Coating, Addicted Industries Clothing, A.R.T., Bailey Brothers Racing Engines, Dickens Cider, and Walker Performance Filtration for their support.

ON TAP: Soares will take this weekend off before returning to action with the King of the West Series on the 26th at Petaluma Speedway.
