Jason Solwold Lands On Skagit Speedway Podium

PETERSEN MEDIA- Kicking the 2016 Skagit Speedway season off on Saturday night, Jason Solwold and his Shaylen Raye Motorsports team worked from their seventh starting spot to finish on the opening night podium.
“We had a good car, but the track was just a little to fast to make a ton of moves,” Solwold explained. “We would get into a rhythm, but cautions would kind of hamper us at times.”
With a problematic timing and scoring system during time trials, the Saturday night program turned into a draw show, and the Burlington, WA driver’s draw was not too kind as he would line the Scottie’s Plumbing/Pops Entertainment/KarMart backed No. 18 machine up in the back of his heat race.
Getting into a bit of a tangle on the opening lap of the heat, Solwold and company would still make it through the heat and grid the field from the fourth row for the feature event.
Lining up in the seventh position on a track that was still pretty tacky, Solwold was patient as he began his pursuit to the front of the field. Able to use a couple restarts to his advantage, Solwold would work into the third spot as he battled with Travis Jacobson as the duo chased after Eric Fisher who ran in second spot just ahead of them.
With Fisher having issues, Solwold would move into the third spot as he now set his sights on Jacobson and Colton Heath who ran ahead of him. Getting into lapped traffic late in the race, Solwold would close in on the lead duo, but would simply run out of time as he closed the night out with a third place finish.
“Like all races we come out to win, but it was a good first night at Skagit for us, and next week we will look to be a couple of spots better,” Solwold said. “Hopefully the weather cooperates with us and we can get some consistent racing in.”
