Jason Solwold Poised For Knoxville Nationals
PETERSEN MEDIA- Making the trip to Knoxville, IA to take part in the Knoxville Nationals, Jason Solwold is poised for the week ahead after a so-so outing during the 360ci Nationals.
“We had a tough draw on our qualifying night for the 360ci Nationals, so it put us behind a little bit,” Jason Solwold said.
Taking to the Knoxville Raceway on Friday night for his qualifying night, Solwold would go out eight from last for his qualifying run, and would wind up timing the Scottie’s Plumbing/NW Team Excavating/KartMart Motorsports No. 18JS in 37th fastest.
Lining up eighth in his heat race, the Burlington, WA driver would finish in the seventh spot and find himself in the 16th starting spot of the night’s B Main. In the 12-lap race, Solwold put together some strong laps as he was able to work his way up to a 10th place finish. Though it was a nice run, it was not enough to propel Solwold into the feature, and his night would come to a close.
Getting their 410ci engine ready for the Nationals, Solwold and the Shaylen Raye Motorsports team would return to the Knoxville Raceway on Sunday night to take part in the 5th Annual Capitani Classic.
Timing the Doyle Guffie’s Rayle Auto Sales/Pops Entertainment/Vic’s 66 backed entry in ninth fastest, Solwold would go on to finish third in his heat race.
Lining up in the 11th starting spot for the 25-lap feature event, Solwold would flex his muscle as he went toe-to-toe with some stiff competition as he worked his way forward.
Getting up inside the Top-Five, Solwold would find himself in a very entertaining battle with Brent Marks as they battled for the fourth spot. Solwold would prevail and close the ‘Capi’ out with a nice fourth place finish.
“Our 410 is awesome, and it has me really looking forward to the rest of the week,” Solwold said. “I really want to thank everyone on this team for making this trip possible.”
