PETERSEN MEDIA: Climbing back aboard the Cox Family Racing No. 44 machine on Saturday night in Marysville, CA, Jesse Love put together another strong run at Marysville Raceway that saw him come away with a fifth-place finish.
“It was a really awesome night, and it felt great to get back in the Cox Family Racing car,” Jesse Love said. “We were fast right out of the box, and if it wasn’t for a late qualifying draw, we it would have really been a great night across the board.”
With 28 cars checked in for the return to racing in California, Love timed the HomeSmiles.Com/Toyota/TRD backed No. 44 entry in 13th fastest in qualifying time trials.
Moving into heat race competition, the Atherton, CA driver had his work cut out for himself with a loaded heat race. Getting the jump, Love would do all of the right things on the rough and tumble Marysville Raceway surface as he picked up the win, and made his way directly into the feature event.
Earning a spot in the redraw, the three pill put the youngster in the second row of the 25-lap affair as he lined up behind pole-sitter, Andy Forsberg.
When the green lights flashed on, Love would get a little out of shape on the opening lap, but it was no harm no foul as he continued on and mixed it up within the top-five. In what was his fourth start of the year with Cox Racing, Love would continue to turn in impressive laps as he worked back inside the Top-Five on the tricky surface.
Continuing to hold down a spot in the Top-Five, Love would close the night in fifth, to give himself his second top five of the season at Marysville Raceway.
“The track was super rough and had some big holes that led me to make some mistakes,” Love added. I learned from them as the race went on, and overall thought we had a pretty strong night. Looking forward to getting back to it this weekend, and a big thanks to Rodney Tiner for all his hard work, and to the Cox family for being great to work with.”
