PETERSEN MEDIA: After tearing up the pavement with Bill McAnally Racing to open his 2020 season, Jesse Love made it to the dirt over the weekend in his first outing with Cox Racing and picked up a third-place finish at Marysville Raceway.
“Overall it was a really solid night,” Jesse Love said. “Short tracks really have been my Achilles heel in the Winged Sprint Car, so to come out and get a podium out of the box has me really excited for what is to come this year with Cox Racing.”
Checking in at Marysville Raceway on Saturday night, Love timed the HomeSmiles.com/Toyota TRD/MDW backed No. 44 machine in fifth fastest amongst the 14 cars checked in for battle.
Moving into heat race action, the Menlo Park, CA driver would chase after Andy Forsberg as he ran in the second position. Unable to get by the veteran, Love would take the second-place finish and ready himself for the 25-lap feature event.
Lining up in the second row of the feature event, Love would find himself amidst a torrid battle with eventual race winner, Ryan Robinson, and the aforementioned Forsberg.
Continuing to run well in his debut with Cox Racing, Love would be destined and determined to land on the podium. Keeping pace with the lead pack, Love capped a very good debut with a third place finish.
“I absolutely loved working with Justyn Cox and Rodney Tiner on Saturday night and feel that we have a shot at winning a lot of races this year,” Love added. “I really can’t thank the Cox family, and Rodney, enough for all of their hard work. I am really excited or the year ahead.”
ON TAP: Love will be right back this coming weekend as he will battle the ASCS National Tour on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, and Sunday night at Petaluma Speedway.
