Joel Myers Jr Caps Fastest Four Days with Top Five in Elma, WA

PETERSEN MEDIA: Completing the first leg of the Road to Dirt Cup on Sunday night, Joel Myers Jr saved his best for last as he picked up a fourth-place finish on Sunday night at Gray’s Harbor Raceway in Elma, WA.
“It was great to end the Fastest Four Days with a really good run,” Joel Myers Jr said. “We were decent the first three nights, but we want to be up competing for wins and Top-Five’s, so I knew we had some work to do after a trio of Top-10 results.”
Sunday night, Myers Jr checked into Grays Harbor Raceway for the Timber Cup and proceeded to earn quick time honors aboard the All About Fire Protection/Hi-Plains Building Division/DirtDudes Excavating backed No. 46JR entry.
Lining up in the second row of his heat race, the Sebastopol, CA driver finished sixth, but still earned a Dash berth based on his qualifying time. Lining up fourth in the Dash, Myers Jr finished third which placed him in the second row of the scheduled 30-lap feature event.
Falling back to sixth when the race went green, Myers Jr was quickly able to work his way forward as reclaim third on the second place. On the slick racing surface, ‘Jr’ fell back to fourth as he hooked up in a very entertaining battle that included third, fourth, and fifth.
Briefly slipping back to fifth officially on laps 11-16, Myers Jr took fourth back over on the 17th lap as a couple of cautions slowed the race.
A late caution turned into a fuel stop with Myers Jr sitting in fifth. With tire ware also becoming an issue, officials then made the decision to end the race on the next stoppage once action came back to life.
The end of the race was short lived as a near immediate stoppage brought the checkered flag out on the 24th lap, and Myers Jr was credited with a fourth-place finish.
The weekend long trip through the northwest kicked off last Thursday night, as Myers Jr and company checked in at Southern Oregon Speedway in Medford, OR. Finishing ninth, Myers Jr recorded a ninth-place finish on Friday night at Douglas County Speedway, and a 10th place finish at Willamette Speedway in Lebanon, OR.
“We had some tricky surfaces to figure out all week long, and with rubber going down each night, it made things tough,” Myers Jr said. “It was the same for all of us though, and it made our team work a little harder. I am glad we had a good night to cap it off, and I am excited for Skagit Speedway this week.”
