PETERSEN MEDIA: Traveling to Arizona Speedway to closeout his 2021 season, and take part in the track’s final event ever, Joel Myers Jr would impress during the Copper Classic as he ran fourth on Friday night and hard charged his way to an eighth-place finish in Saturday’s feature after coming from the tail end of the ‘B’ earlier in the night.

“Arizona was a pretty good weekend for our team,” Joel Myers Jr said. “We had a really fast car during both nights of action, and if it wasn’t for a mistake in our heat race on Saturday night, I think we may have come home with a pair of Top-5’s to match our Friday night showing.”

Fresh off of Thanksgiving Dinner, Friday night saw Myers Jr return to action as he earned quick time honors in his qualifying group about the All About Fire Protection/Dirt Dudes/PitStopUSA backed No. 46jr mount.

Lining up fourth in his heat race, the Sebastopol, CA pilot would pick up a vital passing point as he raced to a third-place finish which then locked him into the Top-Eight redraw. As fate would have it, Jr found himself with the eight which placed him in the fourth row for the Friday night feature event.

On a racy Arizona Speedway surface, the young 15-year-old gasser had his elbows up as he worked the fence of the speedway that has now been forced to close with the conclusion of this event.

Racing his way up to third, Myers Jr would battle with Justin Sanders in the closing laps as his fellow Californian competitor wanted the final spot on the podium. As the two battled hard, Sanders would get the better end of the battle on the race’s final lap, though Myers Jr still brought home a very nice finish as he took the checkered in the fourth spot.

Saturday night brough on the Copper Classic finale, and Myers would continue to show speed at the Queens Creek, AZ facility as he timed in third quickest in his qualifying group to get his season finale event started.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, ‘Jr’ would settle into second as he didn’t get the jump he was looking for when the green light was displayed. While running second, the youngster would get into that wall that he was so good against on Friday night, resulting in a DNF in his heat and relegating him to the ‘B’ main.

Finding himself back in 14th to start the semi, Myers Jr would have his elbows up as he sliced and diced his way through the field. Having some picture-perfect restarts, Myers thrilled the crowd as he worked his way up to second and transferred into the Copper Classic feature.

Taking the green flag from the 18th starting position, Myers would show patience from the back of the pack as things would get wild in front of him during the early stages of the race.

Working his way forward, the 2021 Placerville Speedway Rookie of the Year would work his way into the Top-10 as he continued his march forward.

Getting up into fifth at one point, a couple of late restarts would not play out in Myers Jr’s favor and he would end up capping the weekend off with an eighth place finish.

“I really want to thank my guys for their hard work all year long, and our partners for the support, as well as my family for all they do for me,” Myers said. “We got to try a lot of new things in 2021, and I am looking forward to seeing what we can do in 2022.”

Joel Myers Jr Racing would like to thank All About Fire Protection, Dirt Dudes, Amerikote, PitStopUSA, Y2K Gaming, Shark Racing Engines, Lucas Oil, Vaider, L Delo Designs, Factory Kahne Shocks, Walker Performance Filtration, ShopRico.Com, Tiner Hirst Enterprise, Kaeding Performance, and Triple X Race Co. for their continued support.
